The 2026 Ulsan Culture Expo is a comprehensive cultural festival held under the slogan “My Ulsan, Our City,” sharing the process through which the everyday lives and stories of individual residents come together to become the city’s culture. With the inscription of the “Petroglyphs along the Bangucheon Stream” on the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2025, Ulsan is attracting attention as a city where ancient history and contemporary culture coexist. Just as prehistoric people carved their lives into rock, the people of Ulsan today are also inscribing the city’s culture in their own ways, wherever they are. This year’s expo focuses on the process through which individual cultures beginning with “My Ulsan” become the shared asset of “Our City.” The core value of this expo is “Cultural Governance That Grows Together.” Residents, local cultural and artistic practitioners, cultural businesses, universities, and public institutions participate together from planning through operation, creating a cultural space that everyone builds together, beyond an exhibition presented in one direction. Through exchange programs with cultural city representatives from across the country, the expo will also share Ulsan’s experiences as a cultural city and broaden cooperation between regions. The 2026 Ulsan Culture Expo aims to establish itself as a representative cultural platform for Ulsan as a cultural city, where residents shape the city’s tomorrow as active participants in culture.
